Granite Worktop Display at Cavendish Benton showroom

We recently installed these wonderful granite worktops onto a working display kitchen at the Cavendish Kitchens Benton showroom East of Newcastle upon Tyne.

Granite worktops, Cosmic Black, Newcastle

The granite is Cosmic Black which comes from Brazil. The kitchen is a working display where cookery  and appliance demonstrations take place from time to time. Contact Cavendish kitchens for more information on this.

We think the sink splash back works particularly well where the dramatic veining of the stone is on display. The up-stands around the rest of the kitchen and the splash back behind the hob up to the wood serving shelf bring a sleek continuity to the display.

More of this stone is available to view at our Durham showroom.

Ruth Bond, a Jesmond based interior designer has won two, important, national design awards.

Ruth Bond shows Design Awards

Ruth Bond shows off her kitchen award and bathroom award

Ruth Bond Interior Design won the highly prestigious Design Award 2011 for Kitchen Design of the Year (over £25K), and also Bathroom Design of the Year 2011 (under £15K). This is the first time in the scheme’s history that both awards have gone to one person.

The presentation ceremony and lunch for the Awards took place at Lord’s Cricket Ground on Tuesday 11 October. The winners and finalists accepted their awards and were congratulated on their success in front of a packed audience of almost 400 senior figures from across the design industry.

The Design Awards is an on-going scheme to promote excellence in design for interiors, organised by the publishers of Designer magazine and supported by over 30 leading UK suppliers. Competition was fierce with over 250 entries for each category from among the top London and national design companies.

The judging panel was drawn from a selection of leading architects, interior designers and industry journalists. They were particularly impressed by Ruth’s “vision, and the clarity, coherence and detail shown in her presentations”.

Ruth Bond has been designing stunning interiors for nearly 15 years. She has previously been shortlisted for the Awards, winning last year’s Design Award for Bathroom Design of the Year (Contract), and also being selected as runner-up for Kitchen Design of the Year (over £25K).

Although based in Jesmond, Newcastle upon Tyne, Ruth has worked, and continues to work, on many national and, increasingly, international projects.

She comments, “I am thrilled that my work has been recognised by such an influential body. I am also delighted that the awards show that good design is not necessarily dependent on a limitless budget.  My philosophy has always been to find creative solutions that suit my clients’ pockets as well as their aspirations.”

Marble Arts have long been a supplier to Ruth Bond and the kitchen worktop in the winning design was supplied by them.
